Arnold
S. Prywes, M.D.
graduated
from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York City, where
he also completed an internship in internal medicine, ophthalmology
residency, and fellowship. Dr. Prywes is Assistant Clinical Professor
of Ophthalmology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Chief
of Glaucoma at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Chief of
Glaucoma at North Shore University Hospital and Chief of Ophthalmology
at New Island Hospital. Dr. Prywes is also a Diplomate of the
American Board of Ophthalmology, Fellow of the American Academy
of Ophthalmology, and the American College of Surgeons. He is
currently the president of the Nassau County Medical Society.
Craig
H. Marcus, M.D. is a graduate of the Chicago Medical
School. His post-graduate study included a rotating internship at
the North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. Dr. Marcus completed
his residency in Philadelphia at Temple University, and a post residency
fellowship in glaucoma at the Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital,
where he has been involved with residency lectures and training.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Fellow of the
American Academy of Ophthalmology, he is actively involved in the
glaucoma training program at both Long Island Jewish Medical Center
and North Shore University Hospital. Together with Dr. Prywes, and
Dr. Rothman, Dr. Marcus is a glaucoma consultant at both institutions
and in our Great Neck office. Dr. Marcus is a Diplomate of the American
Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
He is also affiliated with New Island Hospital, North Shore University
Hospitals and Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
Robert
F. Rothman, M.D. is a Clinical Assistant Professor
of Ophthalmology at New York Medical College and The New York Eye
and Ear Infirmary. After graduating from the Combined Seven-Year
Bachelor of Arts/Doctor of Medicine Program at Boston University
in 1993, he entered his residency in Ophthalmology at Long Island
Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Rothman completed his training in 1997
and entered a fellowship in Glaucoma at The New York Eye and Ear
Infirmary. In 1998 he joined Drs. Robert Ritch and Jefferey Liebmann
in practice at New York Eye and Ear where he pursued his research
interests in surgical outcomes. From 2000 to the present, he has
been a partner at Glaucoma Consultants of Long Island where he maintains
an active role in research, education and patient care activities.
He is a residency instructor in glaucoma for the New York Eye and
Ear Infirmary, the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and the North
Shore University Hospital programs. Dr. Rothman is a member of numerous
local and national societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology
and the American Glaucoma Society and maintains professional advisory
panel positions for The Sturge-Weber Foundation and for the Tender
Loving Care Foundation.
Janet
Serle, M.D. is presently Professor of Ophthalmology,
Glaucoma Fellowship Director, and past Residency Director at the
Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where she has been a member of the
full-time faculty since 1985. Dr. Serle graduated from Harvard Medical
School and completed her internship in general surgery at Roosevelt
Hospital in New York City. She then completed a glaucoma research
fellowship, a residency in ophthalmology, and a glaucoma clinical
fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Serle has received
numerous awards, including an Honor Award from the American Academy
of Ophthalmology. Dr. Serle has been a Principal Investigator on
more than 25 N.I.H. or industry sponsored research grants and has
published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and chapters. She is the
Program Chairman of the New York Glaucoma Society, and a member
of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Glaucoma. She is a past
President of the New York Society for Clinical Ophthalmology, and
previously has been the Glaucoma Editor for Focal Points, a continuing
Medical Education publication for the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Serle’s practice is limited to glaucoma. Her expertise
includes medical and surgical management of congenital, pediatric
and adult glaucomas.
